Job Satisfaction is Bunk

One of the Centennial Goals (lofty and yet strangely ambiguous goals for long-term management of the parks) of the National Park Service is to improve employee satisfaction to make it the best of all federal agencies. Is that really fair? Of course they would have a high employee satisfaction, because you have to really love what you to do work for NPS. You will enjoy your job, even if the company is awful. Go to the IRS, which may be an awesome place to work, but who REALLY want to do that kind of accounting stuff? You do it because you can, and you may not have the highest employee satisfaction not because the company is bad but because the job is less than stellar.
